Why have you added MFA to the Portal?
In order to combat the growing number of cyberattacks against businesses, Kobalt is introducing Multi-Factor Authentication across our platform to ensure our clients’ data remains safe and secure.
What is MFA?
MFA is an additional step to verify your identity when you sign in to an application. Using MFA helps to keep your data more secure by making it extremely difficult for cybercriminals to acquire all the information necessary to access your account.
What is a factor?
The ‘factor’ in MFA refers to a method of verifying your identity. The most basic type of factor is your password, which is often the primary, or initial authentication factor you’ll be prompted for. Additional factors can include things like SMS codes, push notifications or even a scan of your iris.
What factors are available?
We currently support the use of SMS and Google Authenticator as additional factors for authentication.

MFA used to be optional, why is it mandatory now?
The industry has seen an increase in the number of malicious attempts to access confidential client information and we believe making MFA mandatory is the best way to ensure the security of our clients' data.
How can I check if my email/password has been compromised?
There are a number of resources online where people can check if their email address/personal details have been included in any data breaches.

In the event your details have been leaked we strongly recommend you update any instances where you have used that password and enable MFA where possible.
What should I do if I share access to one user account?
If you are the primary account owner and you share your portal account access with multiple people, please reach out to the appropriate client support team (contact details listed below) and ask for new users to be created for your affiliates.
